10 Gifts For Any Houseplant Lover
The holidays (or any holiday for that matter) can be stressful when it comes to buying gifts for someone.
It often becomes a guessing game.
“Would they like this?” or “what do they need?”
Let me take the stress out of shopping!
Below is a gift guide of 10 gifts for any houseplant lover that any plant parent would appreciate receiving.
These are a few of my favorite things that I can’t live without in my own home jungle.
Moisture Meter
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a chronic over waterer.
Sometimes watering plants can be pretty tricky.
Taking the guesswork out of weekly watering is a blessing. Any houseplant parent that doesn’t have a moisture meter on hand needs one! Having a moisture meter on hand has saved some of my plants on more than one occasion.
Moisture meters come in a few different varieties. Some come with just moisture reading and some come with a PH and lighting meter as well, which can be helpful.
There are lots of options for moisture meters on Amazon, Home Depot, or Lowes.
Price ranges from: $10-$20
Humidifier
Does your houseplant lover have any exotic and tropical babies? Well, if they don’t already have a humidifier, you and their plants will thank you for it, especially during wintertime.
You can get humidifiers to fit any space. There are some portable humidifiers that can fit into a glass of water, which blanket over one plant. There are also some powerhouses that can fill a whole room with humidity.
Humidifiers can be found almost anywhere from Target and Amazon to online shops like Elechomes.
Price ranges from: $10-$100+
Gardening Tools
I’m a sucker for a good set of gardening tools.
A nice set of shovels or/and a sharp pair of pruning shears is on any houseplant lover’s list. They also might look silly or non-useful, but a mini gardening tool set has become one of my favorite purchases for my houseplants.
Even a washable/reusable mat to put under plants for re-potting/potting might be something that a houseplant parent doesn’t think they need until they have one.
And who doesn’t love a new watering can?!
All gardening tools can be readily found in most stores from Amazon to plant nurseries.
Price ranges from: $10-$50
Hygrometer
Alongside the humidifier, a hygrometer will help gauge the humidity and the temperature around houseplants.
Hygrometers are a necessity for someone who has tropical or temperamental plants, since a drop in temperature or humidity can decline the plants health.
These can be found at any home improvement stores or Amazon.
Price ranges from: $5-$15
Planty Merch
Who doesn’t love a good pin or sticker? What if it was houseplant related?
I know many houseplant parents who go nuts over cute houseplant accessories like shirts or mugs.
Some of the best planty merch items I’ve seen are on Etsy. Which you will find unique and handmade gift that you can’t find just anywhere, and a great option for the houseplant lover who has everything.

Planters
Planters are awesome gifts for a houseplant lover.
It gives a plant parent an excuse to buy another plant or even upgrade from a nursery pot to a beautiful ceramic pot.
You may need to know about what style the person goes for. I know some houseplant parents are picky about planters, so if you know their taste than go for it!
I’m also throwing in hanging planters into this because you can also make or buy macramé hangers for planters that fit just about any pot size.
Planters and hangers can be found on Amazon or retail shops (depending on the season) and Etsy also offers one-of-a-kind options as well.

Grow lights
If you’re buying for a plant parent in the fall/winter, they will thank you for the grow lights come spring, when their houseplants didn’t suffer from the shorter daylight days.
These are essential for any plant parent, if they don’t already have them.
I have a blog on the importance of grow lights here.
Grow lights can be found in home improvement shops or online retailers like Amazon.

Plant Books
Who doesn’t love a good book? And how about one that is all about their favorite thing – houseplants!
There are lots of cute coffee table books that are just really neat to go through and browse, most also have some real neat tips and tricks as well.
Here are some books I’d recommend:
Leaf Supply: A Guide to Keeping Happy House Plants – Book by: Lauren Camilleri and Sophia Kaplan
The Little Book of House Plants and Other Greenery – Book by: Emma Sibley
Wild at Home: How to Style and Care for Beautiful Plants – Book by: Hilton Carter

Plant Shelf/Bookcase
Ok, so if you know any houseplant parent, you know that we can often go overboard and fill up shelves quickly!
No houseplant lover wants to get rid of any of his or her babies, so how do we fit that?
More shelving of course!
You can find some nice shelving or bookcases just about anywhere. Ikea, Target and Amazon seem to be pretty popular when a plant parent is looking for the right shelves.
Price ranges from: $75-$100+
Plants or Plant Subscription
This is a no brainer. When all else fails, a houseplant will do just fine!
Try to maybe dig up (no pun intended) a wish list plant they may have, or something neat you might spot in a nursery. If that doesn’t work you could just get them a gift card to their favorite nursery.
Many plant companies like The Sill have started a houseplant subscription, which is usually paying a discounted lump sum or monthly payments and getting new plants all year.
“Clark, that’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.” – Eddie Christmas Vacation
Price ranges from: $10-$100+
